Tooth Fillings in Cary, NC

Do I need a filling?

When a tooth begins to decay, it could result in a cavity. As the cavity spreads, you may be in danger of losing the tooth. Dr. Privette will stop the spread of decay, by removing the decay and save your tooth by placing a filling in that tooth.

Types of Fillingsā€¦

Composite Fillings

Composite fillings are the standard tooth filling of choice in modern dentistry. Composite Fillings are often referred to as tooth colored fillings. Composite fillings are made of a mixture of plastic and fine glass particles. Composite fillings are bonded directly to the tooth. This makes the tooth stronger than it would be with Amalgam fillings.

Amalgam Fillings

Amalgam fillings are the traditional tooth filling. Amalgam fillings are made from a mixture of silver, tin, cooper, zinc and mercury and are silver in appearance. Amalgam fillings can corrode or tarnish over time. This can cause discoloration at the site where filling meets the tooth. Amalgam fillings are a less expensive alternative to Composite fillings.
